My Story:

I am the Rev. Caitlin Cotter Coillberg, pronouns she/her, a third generation Unitarian Universalist from Knoxville, Tennessee. I was ordained by my home congregation in 2014 after completing my seminary education in Berkeley, CA and my Chaplain residency in Minneapolis, MN, but my service to our faith tradition goes back much further than that. I first felt the call to ministry as a high school youth while serving on committees and boards for Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church and the District Youth Steering Committee of Young Religious Unitarian Universalists and leading youth conferences, worship services, and small groups at TVUUC and at The Mountain Retreat and Learning Center. During my time as an undergraduate I got my first real taste of interfaith leadership, and the interfaith life of religious students was the focus of my undergraduate thesis work (I also ran Bryn Mawr College’s Unitarian Universalist Group).

After a brief career in Environmental Advocacy and Experiental Education, I started my studies at the Graduate Theological Union and committed to life as a Unitarian Universalist Religious Professional. I have been in this work ever since! Having served and been a part of religious communities from California to Nantucket, Alaska to West Virginia (and having served on denominational committees, chaplain teams, and search teams), my knowledge and understanding of Unitarian Univeralism is broad and deep.

I am known as a joyful and inspiring leader with a warm and engaging presence and a fire for justice and inclusion. My passion for multigenerational community, history, polity, and storytelling mark my ministry, as does my commitment to anti-racism work, neurodiversity and disability rights, and LGBTQA activism. I see playfulness and rest as vital spiritual practices.

Currently I live in Silver Spring, MD, with my spouse and two small children.
